Why Marvel's Captain America Civil War Was a Disappointment

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Please do not read any further if you haven't seen the movie, not that there is too much to spoil.
It seems like I may get a lot of opposition for my opinion on this movie, but that's exactly what it is, my opinion. You are free to disagree.

So, I saw Captain America Civil War opening night with a group of my friends. I am not a huge nerd, I don't read the comics, and I don't usually have too much to say about Marvel movies, but there is a first for everything. With the amount of hype this movie got, you would think it was even better than what people were saying over and over again; Which is "This is the greatest Marvel movie ever made!" To me, this may not even be the best Captain America movie ever made. So, here is a list of the issues I had with the movie:

  • THE TEAMS WERE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO FAIR: on paper Team Iron Man should have easily beat team Cap. Team Iron Man includes: Stark, War Machine, Black Widow, The Vision, Black Panther, and SPIDER-MAN. Team Cap: Rogers, Bucky, Hawkeye, Falcon, Ant-Man, and Scarlet Witch. Starting with Team Iron Man, their weakest link to me was, Black Panther, which isn't a bad weak link to have. To be fair to Black Panther, he was just introduced in this movie, so we have little knowledge of what he can fully do. He does seem to be a great warrior, with extensive training and skills, but what avenger doesn't. What sets him apart though is his suit, which is made from the material Vibranium (like Captain America's shield) and seems to be indestructible. Unfortunately, the coolest thing Black panther will ever be able to do with his suit is scratch somebody to death. Now, lets talk about Vision. He is J.A.R.V.I.S combined with an infinity stone, the most powerful object introduced in the Marvel universe. He is basically a God. He can fly, use the power of his infinity stone to shoot lasers, and he can distort matter, passing through or creating whatever he damn well pleases. He is so powerful I would take him alone, against the entire Captain America team. The problem is I'm not sure Marvel knows how to use him or that they couldn't use him to his full potential during this movie, for he would probably be able to kill/stop everyone. We shall continue though. The Black Widow, who may not have super powers, but is one of the most badass Avengers out of all of them. Powers aside she would kick anyones ass she went up against. She's a deadly assassin that is well trained, smart, and tactical. Team Iron Man also recruited my personal favorite, Spider-Man. I don't know if I was just excited to see Marvel introduce Spider-Man for the first time or fangirling over his awesome fighting style and personality. We all know what Spider-man is capable of, even being a kid. He is no joke. Finally, War Machine and Iron Man. What can't Iron Man do. He is a genius inside a bullet proof suit, with AI assistance from J.A.R.V.I.S that can fly, shoot lasers, repulsor rays, bullets, rockets, heat seeking missiles, basically anything. Then War Machine, who is all that, but with huge cannon added on the back of his suit. Now for Team Cap. A team of three soldiers: two physically enhanced, one with a shield, the other with a metal arm and the last with metal wings. I guess if you were to combine all three of them you could ALMOST make one metal suit that can fly..... sounds familiar. Ant-Man, who I was impressed with, but they used him for about all he was worth, becoming really small, or really big. Team Cap also had Hawkeye, the most worthless avenger, no offense to people who shoot arrows Stephen Amell. I don't think shooting arrows is lame, but when that is basically the only thing you bring to the table and you are going against: two iron suits, a vibranium suit, a god, and your best friend you would never shoot, you are useless in this fight. The only threat on their team is Scarlet Witch. Clearly she is powerful, but even she has limitations and weaknesses that Team Iron Man could expose. RIP Team Cap.

  • Character Flaws: Any movie with this many characters will have a difficult time properly utilizing all of them, but Marvel usually does a pretty good job like they did in this movie. I do question the direction many of the characters went though. Starting with the team captains, they should have been on the opposite side they were actually on. Tony Stark the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist who loves his freedom and not answering to anybody, wants to be regulated by government and do whatever they ask. Captain AMERICA, who has his own country in his name, if you didn't notice, chooses to oppose his and other countries wishes. Wishes that hope to prevent future catastrophic damages and loss of innocent lives left behind after the Avengers are done. Black Panther- I was looking forward to seeing what the Black Panther was going to be like in this movie. Sadly, nothing "wowed" me about him. He was very average, wasn't very interesting and quite boring. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he did just lose his father, so maybe a great personality or sense of humor weren't appropriate at the time, but hopefully that changes in the future. Thor and Hulk- The two most powerful and entertaining superheros were not even in the civil war, which could have made it a lot more interesting. Ant-Man who decided to be Ant-Man to prove to his daughter he is not just a criminal decides to join Team Cap and turn into a criminal? The Black Widow- goes against her two BFFs Captain America and Hawkeye to do what she thinks is right, then later changes her mind mid battle to let Cap and Bucky escape? Bucky- just sucks. I will get to it later. Also, how did Stark know Peter was Spider-Man? and why'd he recruit a kid with a bright future, right after being told about the similar bright kid that died, because the Avengers, that he was upset about?

  • Lame Ending: All the character issues I have previously discussed I could live with and still thoroughly enjoy the movie, what really influenced my opinion on the movie was the storyline. I don't know exactly how the Civil War went it the comics, but it was a little different I am hearing. The "Sokovia Accords" is a international legal document, agreed upon by hundreds of countries, to basically determine when the Avengers would or wouldn't be needed to LEGALLY protect the world. The idea that the avengers have too much power and need to be regulated is actually a realistic and legitimate concern. I see the good arguments for both sides of this. So, after a lot of talking they couldn't come to a unanimous agreement on what to do. Things became more intense as Cap refuses to turn on his buddy Bucky, who forced to do against his will, has done some terrible things. Cap also finds out there may be other enhanced soldiers, like Bucky, that are able to be controlled for dangerous purposes. Stark then takes it on himself to bring in Bucky and whoever else doesn't wish to follow the new superhero law. Of course, the disagreements must come down to beating the hell out of each other. Im not going to lie, the fight scene turned out to be pretty awesome. My one concern was it being anticlimatical. There were no serious consequences, no one died. War Machine did get injured, but an Iron Man knockout injury, was the worse thing that happened after that huge fight. Some members did get arrested for a couple days before Cap later freed them. The war resulted in Cap technically winning because him and Bucky ran away while Black Widow turned on her team and LET them escape. What's ironic is this battle over the Sokovia Accords, ignores everything the Accords were about. It takes place in what seemed like an empty airport and although, no innocent lives were lost, was all the damage done to the area still necessary? Later, Stark also discovers the potentially dangerous enhanced soldiers and decides to screw the government and go help Cap and Bucky. Right as you think Cap, Bucky, and Stark might come together for an epic showdown with these soldiers, the mastermind "villain" in the movie had already killed them all. Instead he shows them a video of Bucky killing Starks parents, against his will again, leading to another brawl between the three. Stark loses. Bucky chooses to go in hypersleep. Cap wants to be buds with Stark still. The end. My problem: THE CIVIL WAR WAS OVER SAVING BUCKY AND THE SOKOVIA ACCORDS. Marvel has now made two huge movies focusing on "Bucky" a character literally no one gives a shit about. Still, the Avengers went to Civil War to save Bucky, then when it is all over he decides to go to hypersleep and become irrelevant again?! What! The rumor was he becomes the new Captain America, which I could have been okay with eventually. Instead, he just goes to sleep till Marvel ruins the Black Panther movie to focus on him again. There was no unexpected twists, no surprises, not even a single build up to future movies, like Infinity Wars, no hints as to what is to come next like they usually do. Nothing significant happened, you could easily not watch this and feel like you didn't miss anything in the next Marvel movies you watch. Also, Captain America acts like nothing happened and wants to work with Stark again. The Sokovia Accords, the other reason they went to war, the biggest supporter Stark, ended up going against anyway. Where does he stand on that now? The best part besides a couple sweet fight scenes was Spider-Man and Hot Aunt May.

Dennis Hastert

Enough of the bathrooms LETS TALK ABOUT THIS: Hypocrisy
Former GOP Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert being a CHILD MOLESTER.

  • This was the Republican Speaker of the House! That is the highest position in the United States House of Representatives. That is someone the Republican party choose to represent them. That is someone they respected, someone they trusted. Someone with the power to influence many lives.
  • Lately you have Republicans going nuts over these bathrooms, concerned their kids MIGHT be sexually assaulted by trans people, since that happens so often. Meanwhile, their former Speaker of the House has ADMITTED TO MOLESTING CHILDREN and I haven't heard a peep from anyone. Maybe because they know these are the actual people most likely to abuse your child: older, white, males aka the entire republican party.
  • In fact, the same type of people are actually trying to defend Dennis Hastert. 41 members of the GOP have written letters to DEFEND his character and ask for LENIENCY.
Tom Delay (former House majority leader) wrote: "We all have our flaws, but Dennis Hastert has very few. He is a good man that loves the lord. He gets his integrity and values from Him. He doesn’t deserve what he is going through. I ask that you consider the man that is before you and give him leniency where you can.”
So, being a serial child molesting, pedophile, monster, he shouldn't be rightfully punished because: "he loves the Lord"!?!

  • This scumbag is only getting a fine and 15 months in federal prison for financial misconduct (paying the victims he molested hush money) because the statue of limitations for his criminal conduct of sexual abuse had expired.
  • The history of hypocrisy: What makes this all so disturbing is that Dennis Hastert became Speaker after Newt Gingrich quit, who was having a extramarital affair. He then was supposed to be replaced by Bob Livingston, until he was also caught having an affair, while finally ending up with Dennis Hastert the pedophile and this was all during the time they were trying to impeach Bill Clinton for getting a BJ.

Bernie Predictions

Once again the corruption, and unethical behavior of the rich and powerful has been exposed thanks to the Panama Papers The leak linked hundreds of politicians and political leaders around the world with acts such as evading millions of dollars in taxes, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and helping fund the war in the middle east.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that this type of illegal activity exists. What is surprising, however, is how extensive and impactful this shell corporation actually was. There was one candidate that had the foresight to see the potential danger that could arise in the Panama trade deal and spoke out against it. This was in 2011, five years before his predictions (and more) were discovered to be true with the Panama Papers. This isn't the first time Bernie has predicted a national or global crisis. Bernie has always been on the right side of history and continues to be proven right time and time again. My fear is that in five or ten years from now, if Bernie doesn't get elected, things will stay on the current path they are on or continue to become worse and we will look back on what Bernie is currently saying and have to admit he was right again. People are afraid of change and progress, until that progress actually happens.

In 1988 Bernie warned us of the potential financial collapse that later happened in 2008
http://youtu.be/Uh4i7kadbhA

In 1991/2002 Bernie advised us against the invasion of Iraq. He predicted the consequences of the Gulf and Iraq war

http://youtu.be/1QetUJHS5rE

In 2011 Bernie predicted the danger of the Panama trade agreement and its path to corruption. In 2016 the Panama Papers confirmed his prediction.

So where was everyone else on these issues? When Bernie was given the same information as everyone else and wasn't being told what to say, or NOT say, from special interests, he recognized the possible danger and stood up for the people and country like he always has.

BERNIE 2016

Say what you want about Bernie Sanders views or policy ideas, of course not everyone is going to agree with everything he says. However, there is one thing about him that NO ONE can deny, his character as a HUMAN BEING. He stands head and shoulders above any candidate running in terms of honesty, integrity, ethics, judgment, authenticity and really caring about people. He is not your typical politician and is something we have never seen before and probably will never see again. So for everyone complaining about not having anyone to vote for and being sick of the lying and corrupt politicians, now is your one chance to support the one who isn't. Why Bernie is different:

  • He isn’t a pathological liar, showing us politicians can actually be honorable and trustworthy.
  • He isn’t owned by corporations or big money. His only allegiance is to the people, which he fights for every day.
  • He also doesn’t come from money. His parents and his family know what it’s like to struggle and work hard, like most of us do, in hopes to make it. Other candidates have no idea what it feels like to struggle a single day in their life.
  • He is humble. He treats everyone with respect. He doesn’t resort to personal attacks.
  • He doesn’t say things just for attention or publicity. He actually walks the walk and truly believes in and practices what he says. Side note: corporate media hardly even covers his campaign.
  • He is not trying to force religious beliefs on everyone. Which shouldn't even be a thing I admire, but a certain party seems to think it is okay to do.
  • He has been consistent on major issues throughout his entire life, he doesn’t FLIP FLOP! He has fought against income inequality his entire life. He has fought for the middle and working class his entire life. He has fought for and defended the rights of African Americans, women, LGBT, elderly, disabled, and the less fortunate his entire life. He has done more to help veterans than any other candidate by far. He has attacked corporate greed and corruption his entire life. His concern for the environment and the future has never changed. And he would continue to fight for these things when he is President!
  • He has wisdom and good judgment: He strongly opposed and voted against the Iraq war. He warned us about the financial collapse of 2008 and was against the Wall Street bailout.
  •  He isn't aligned with either party. He disagrees with both democrats and republicans on certain issues and is the longest serving independent in congress.
  • He has been on the right side of history his entire life and he will continue to be on the right side of the future.

People like to call Bernie radical, crazy, loony etc. and I would agree, because it is crazy to actually have a politician that is honest, authentic, and caring. They also criticize him before they even look at any of the details in his policies. Now, I know the media and republicans like to use fear and scary words when talking about him, but many of his ideas and views are pretty rational and mainstream and SHOULD have a lot of bipartisan support. Just a few for example:
He is anti-establishment, against the two party system and current political process, wants money out of politics with campaign finance reform and overturning citizens united, eliminate corporate welfare, close corporate tax loopholes, break up the big banks that are "too big to fail" and reinstate Glass-Steagall, enact Wall Street reform and tax speculation, end for-profit prisons and mandatory minimum sentencing, opposes trade agreements (TPP, NAFTA, CAFTA, etc.), protects individual freedoms (against NSA for example), pay equality- equal pay for equal work, fix a rigged economy that only is benefiting the top 1%, oh decriminalize and legalize marijuana and end the war on drugs.

Bernie’s ideas are not radical and are not just about helping the less fortunate, they are about helping everyone. Investing in education and healthcare are both ways to truly progress as a country. There is a reason numerous people from every aspect of life have came out and supported Bernie Sanders. Many economists have even agreed with Bernie’s economic plan and have endorsed him as their candidate. So, again if you don't agree with his policies I can understand, but having a president of his character is what this country needs! Bernie Sanders 2016.

The Trump Scorecard

There has to be something in here you Trump supporters don't agree with.

  • 40-200 million dollar inheritance from daddy. -he worked so hard for
  • 169 federal lawsuits -not surprising
  • 5 time draft dodger -such a tough guy
  • 4 bankruptcies, among many other failed business endeavors -doesn't "win" often
  • 3 Marriages, (5 children)  -no comment
  • 2 clothing brands -that manufacture outside United States (China and Mexico)
  • 1 Giant Ego - he's the best at everything. He doesn't care about anyone but himself

Other honorable attributes:

  • Attacking immigrants, minorities, disabled, women, Muslims, and even recently THE POPE.
  • Bragging about how he could shoot someone and not lose any support.
  • Being slightly incestual with his daughter.
  • Talks about keeping jobs and businesses here, yet has several hotels, real estate, and other significant investments in countries outside the US.
  • Handles criticism by screaming, yelling, and threatening to sue.
  • Encouraging countless acts of violence and hate

My Favorites: If you don't have a problem with anything so far you can't deny this..
  • He has been on both sides of every issue!
  • His policies: to avoid being called out or sounding like a complete idiot, he never gives any specifics, instead he answers with some form of how great he is and that he "wins".

So you love him, while he is everything you claim to hate.

Steps on How to Win a 2016 Republican Nomination:

Step 1. Religion- Express yours much as possible, even if it is all just a sham. Then make clear how you are going to use your specific religion while president to influence the decisions you make for every American... (Being a nation made up of so many different religions and beliefs and most importantly having a separation of church and state.)

Step 2. Refuse any form of science or fact- Especially ones that may disagree with Step 1, no matter how many scientist or experts in their field say otherwise. Simply refuse this because you are paid by, ExxonMobil and others, to do so.

Step 3. Pick someone to blame- This one is probably the easiest for them. For example: Women, African Americans, Mexicans, immigrants, gays, etc. But their all-time favorite scapegoat for causing every problem: "the poor" and of course President Obama.

Step 4. Talk and act like you think these last 7+ years have been some of the worst years in history, thanks to Obama (see Step 3 and Step 2, blaming while ignoring facts)

Step 5. Make clear you are ready to solve any foreign policy issue with immediate military action and war over peaceful alternatives.

Step 6. Call yourself conservative for wanting to save money by cutting Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid, and other important programs, while giving tax cuts to the rich. Then want to increase our, already absurd military spending, which we are spending more than the next 10 countries combined, by billions/ trillions of dollars. (Just in case we need Step 5.)

Step 7. Claim all government involvement is wrong, unless it is telling women what they can do with their bodies or people who they can love. Also, claim to be a strict constitutionalist, but only when they believe it benefits them.

Step 8.* Lie, a lot. (Seen mostly in both parties)

Step 9. Lose the 2016 presidential race to a Democrat.

The Most Evil and Corrupt Corporations in America That Everyone Should Know About!

(Warning this is incredibly long, but if you take the time to read it, you could learn something new and may not regret it.)

Try going longer than a day without hearing or seeing any crimes in the news related to illegal drug use, theft, assault, rape, or murder. Recently, for me, I have become more interested in how government and the political process actually works. What I came to realize was the the true criminals are America's largest corporations. I say this because large corporations can get away with acts as terrible, if not far more terrible, than those I previously mentioned. The corruption of the government and corporations may not be something people think or even know about. You may not realize how these companies have a direct impact on your everyday life. I want to open as many eyes as possible, as should everyone else. Share the truth with everyone you can and we can start making a difference by fighting back against horrible, greedy, power hungry, out of control corporations that are trying to take control of our lives. A college professor of mine is the one who first enlightened me to the corruption of companies in America, but that was just the beginning. Like the title of my blog, I was curious, and admittedly, bored and wanted to find out more. On a side note, I also recently just finished watching the Netflix original series House of Cards, which I know is just a television show, but the basis of the show seems like it is not too far off of what is really going on in the United States Government. Throughout the series, the main character, Frank Underwood, consistently talks about the pursuit of money and power. In the show, no matter which path a character decides to follow, the further along the path they got, the greedier and more willing to make terrible decisions they became. Some of these companies have been going down these paths for far too long and nothing is being done about it. I don't have time to talk about all the wrong doings of every corporation in America, so I decided to focus my attention on the three institutions I found most horrible. Those being: NestleMonsanto, and the Federal Reserve System. Some people may already be familiar with the evil of these corporations, if that is the case, good. For everyone else, get ready.

Nestle -

Nestle is the world's largest food and bottled water company. Currently their revenue is close to one hundred billion dollars per year. Just about every aspect of this company is terrible from its baby formula, to its chocolate, and of course it’s bottled water. Let’s look at some of Nestlé’s history.

Baby Formula: In the late 1900's Nestle took advantage of underdeveloped countries and exploited mothers and citizens with relentless, unethical, and misleading marketing about baby formula, claiming it was a healthier alternative to breast feeding. With the lack of a clean water supply to prepare the formula, infant mortality rates drastically increased. Even with an adequate water supply, the formula lacked many nutrients and antibodies breastmilk provides. Nestle began a campaign to get babies hooked on the formula by giving families free samples. However, after Nestle put a stop to the free samples, many families could not afford the expensive baby formula, but by that time could not go back to breastfeeding because the mother's milk had dried up. The women were given no other choice but to buy the expensive formula, or find other means to try and feed their children.

Chocolate: How many of you chocolate lovers know where your chocolate is coming from? It couldn't be from the hands of a child, who is being exploited for slave labor and subjected to abuse and trafficking. In the 2000's, the cocoa industry was put in the spotlight when International Labor Rights Fund filed a lawsuit for former plantation workers on these cocoa farms. According to a 1997 report by the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) "estimated that some 200,000 children are smuggled across borders in West African countries like Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali and Togo."  A later U.S. State department report estimated that some 15,000 children between the ages of 9 and 12 were forced to work on cocoa, coffee, and cotton farms in northern Cote d'Ivoire. The lawsuit hit a roadblock, however, in 2010 when U.S. District Judge Stephen Wilson dismissed the case, stating that U.S. laws did not allow corporations to be sued in for abuses abroad." Nestle wasn't the only company to be accused, Hersey has also been found using children as slave labor in African. It truly makes me sick how these large companies take advantage of their workforce anyway they can, while making billions of dollars in profit. Of course, Nestle and others have denied these claims, but you can decide for yourself. I also don't want to act like Nestle is the only company that has been linked to using slave labor, in fact many popular US companies partake in this terrible routine. Slave labor has been be used in the production of several various products from chocolate, coffee, electronics, clothes, shoes, jewelry, and even FIFA.

                                    Dark Side of Chocolate Documentary-

Bottled Water: According to the CEO of Nestle "water is not a human right it should be privatized". There is a reason Nestle is the largest bottled water manufacturer in the world. Nestle doesn't have any concern for you or the environment: they sucks millions of gallons of water from underdeveloped countries, your backyard, or where ever they damn well please for basically no cost, then turn around and sell it to you for millions of dollars in profit. In fact, just recently Nestle was in the news for pumping water out of Canada and California DURING A DROUGHT. In 2014, Nestle used roughly 705 million gallons of water in its operations in California, according to natural resource manager Larry Lawrence. That’s 2,164 acre-feet of water — enough to “irrigate 700 acres of farmland” or “fill 1,068 Olympic-sized swimming pools,” as Ian James pointed out in The Desert Sun. They did this all with an expired permit, which was punished by a fine of only $524. Nestle pays $3.71 for every million liters of water it pumps from local watersheds, then packages it and sells it to the public for around $2 million. That is a 53,908,255% mark up. Not a bad profit on the most valuable resource to mankind. Pumping this much water is also not by any means helping our current water crisis, which is becoming scarier by the day. To summarize our current global water situation let’s just look at some numbers: The world is made up of about 70% water, 97% of that water is salt water and is undrinkable. This leaves 3% of the planets water to be fresh water. Of that 3% of fresh water about ~2.5% is located in icebergs, glaciers, and snow. That leaves less than 1%. Then, 70% of that 1% is actually used for agriculture, leaving what is left to be used/consumed by the world population, about 7 billion people that is exponentially increasing everyday. Fresh water is a resource that is being abused, wasted, and taken advantage of. Water is the most important resource in the world, it is what everyone needs to survive and why all life exists. However, a very large part of the, already small percentage, we can actually use is be contaminated, destroyed, and wasted. Water pollution has led to very serious diseases and has become a major cause of death especially among children. This water crisis can causes extreme storms, erosion, deforestation, and many more environment risks in the future. It is definitely a problem that needs handled by the world as a whole.  Right now millions of people are without access to a clean water supply and millions more are dying every year by a water related diseases. According to studies by 2025, 1.8 billion people will experience absolute water scarcity, and 2/3 of the world will be living under water-stressed conditions. By 2030, almost half the world will live under conditions of high water stress. We will have very immediate and very serious effects in the near future if nothing is done about this global emergency.

Monsanto-

Monsanto wants people to believe they are creating a smarter, healthier, more efficient agricultural solution to growing crops. That their main focus is helping hard working farmers produce more crops to earn more money, feed more people, and cure world hunger. That is the "New Monsanto" that in 2000 claimed to be a completely different company then "Old Monsanto, the chemical company" with the focus now being on agriculture. Before I get into New Monsanto, I will try to briefly summarize Old Monsanto. Old Monsanto was established in 1901 and began as a chemical manufacturing company. They did produce some non-harmful products like aspirin, plastics, synthetic rubber, caffeine, and vanillin, but that is the only decent thing this company has done.

LIST OF CHEMICALS MONSANTO HAS MANUFACTURED:
1. PCB's or polychlorinated biphenyls, were produced beginning in the 1930s until they were banned in 1976. Used as coolants and lubricants in electronics, PCBs are carcinogenic and harmful to the liver, endocrine system, immune system, reproductive system, developmental system, skin, eyes, and brain. Documents introduced in court later showed Monsanto was fully aware of the deadly effects, but criminally hid them from the public to keep money flowing.

2. Polystyrene, is a petroleum-based plastic made from the styrene monomer. Most people know it under the name Styrofoam. It is an environmental disaster. Not only is it non-biodegradable, it breaks off into tiny pieces that can choke animals, harm marine life, and release cancer-causing benzene into the environment for a thousand years or more.

3. Bovine Growth Hormone, is a genetically modified hormone injected into dairy cows to produce more milk. rBGH-treated cows have higher levels of IGF-1, a hormone that normally helps some cell types grow. Several studies have found, however, that increased IGF-1 levels may influence the development of certain tumors and cancer. Secondly, cows treated with rBGH tend to develop more udder infections which require more antibiotics. Increased antibiotic use in cows can be problematic if it reaches the consumers.

4. DDT or Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, was a very commonly used insecticide to combat against malaria transmitting mosquitoes. It was banned in 1972 for human health effects linked to damage of the liver, nervous system, and reproductive function.

5. Agent Orange, described as "perhaps the most toxic molecule ever synthesized by man" used by the military as part of its herbicidal warfare program during the Vietnam war. The most well-known chemical creation took place in 1961, when Monsanto led the manufacture of Agent Orange.  More than 4.8 million Vietnamese civilians were contaminated with Agent Orange. About 400,000 Vietnamese died as a result of Agent Orange and millions, including children, suffered from disabilities and birth defects, even years after the incident.

6. Dioxin, is a highly toxic group of chemical compounds produced as a byproduct in some manufacturing processes- in this case, Agent Orange. Dioxin is a serious and persistent environmental pollutant associated with damage to the kidneys, liver, skin, and more. A suit filed on behalf of tens of thousands of people who lived, worked, and went to school in Nitro, West Virginia after 1949 claimed Monsanto spread toxic substances including dioxins, which have been linked to cancer, throughout the town. Nitro was paid around $90 million in settlement from Monsanto.

7. Saccharin & Aspartame, two artificial sweeteners that have been rigorously studied for their safety in the past few decades. Although the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has deemed that both saccharin and aspartame to be safe, various consumer safety groups and health professionals disagree with this assessment. They have no food value, addictive qualities, and have been claimed to cause several different side effects. However, what is most concerning is how it became legal.
Aspartame was first created by the company Searle, later purchased by Monsanto, to cure stomach ulcers. After what some criticized as inadequate and flawed research, the FDA gave its approval to aspartame in 1974. The approval was soon retracted based off findings that Searle had published studies that were faulty, fraudulent, and that misrepresented data (a criminal act). US attorney Samuel Skinner was requested by the FDA to determine if Searle willingly and criminally withheld data. Eventually the investigation was dropped as Skinner accepted a job offer he could not refuse, working for the Searle law firm. After all of this, Searle used their political ties to ask newly appointed president, Ronald Reagan, for a favor. Reagan got rid of the uncooperative FDA commissioner and appointed a new commissioner, Dr. Arthur Hayes Hull, to head the FDA. Hayes then assembled a five person scientific team to review Aspartame, who then determined by a 3-2 vote that it was unsafe. The new FDA commissioner decided to add a sixth member to the team, who shockingly then made the vote a 3-3 tie, in which it allowed Hayes to approve Aspartame for public consumption.

8. Glyphosate, is the primary active ingredient in the herbicide “Roundup” which was introduced in 1974. Monsanto defines Glyphosate as a "non-selective herbicide, meaning an application will kill most plants. It does this by preventing the plants from making three amino acids (components of proteins and vitamins) that are required for growth. Glyphosate stops a specific enzyme, EPSP synthase. This enzyme is found ONLY in plants and many bacteria." Glyphosate is now the most used herbicide in the United States, its usage increases more and more every day. In 2007, as much as 185 million pounds of glyphosate was used by U.S. farmers, double the amount used six years ago, according to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) data. Later, I will talk about how dangerous this chemical actually is.

Then New Monsanto shifted gears and decided that with all their years of experience creating deadly poisons and chemicals, they would use their talents to produce foods for the public to consume. With that, the company began producing, what they are now most famous for, GMO's or genetically modified organisms. GMO's are the result of a laboratory process wherein genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially forced into the genes of an unrelated plant or animal. The foreign genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals, etc. Many people are supportive of GMO foods, while many people are strongly against them. This is a free country (sort of) and you have the right to form your own opinions and make your own choices. These decisions should be based off some sort of information or research at least, which is all I'm trying to provide people with. I personally view GMOs as a revolutionary discovery with a great deal of potential, but also highly dangerous. The types of genetic modifying that makes sense to me include: creating plants to defend against diseases, adding essential vitamins, or modifying crops to enable them to grow in difficult conditions in which they normally could not. Studies to determine the safety of genetically modified foods however, are still not convincing. Since they are still relatively new, long term effects especially have been questioned. What makes GMOs Monsanto created so special is, they created the seeds to be resistant to THEIR own herbicide, Round Up.

THE PROCESS:

Even before the creation of their genetically modified seeds Monsanto spent billions of dollars globally buying up as many seed companies as possible to transition them or eliminating them from competition. They then began producing and selling their genetically engineered seeds to the farmers, who are handcuffed to a contract that states that, every year farmers are required to buy new seeds and are prohibited from saving seeds for next season. Monsanto is allowed to inspect all records of the farmers, and does not give reimbursements or replacements if the farmers' seeds do not produce as expected. Monsanto not only prohibits violators from ever buying seeds again, they have on many occasions sued farmers that violate the contract, winning every time. Since Monsanto has nearly monopolized control over the seed market, having patented control over ninety percent of seeds and seed genetics, and continuing to acquire independent seed companies, this clause could make obtaining seeds difficult for the farmers. As a company that claims to be all about the farmers, this contract doesn't seem very fair. So why would farmers buy seeds from Monsanto anyway? Compared to traditional methods of farming, using the Monsanto seeds and herbicides is less work and time, they reduce labor costs, and claim to increase yield, which also would increase income. Traditional seeds are also becoming much harder to obtain. Sadly, most farmers don’t have much of a choice. 93% of corn, 94% of soybeans, and 96% of cotton crops are all genetically modified. Other common GMOs are canola, sugar beets, alfalfa, and squash. One study estimates about 70-80% of all food in stores to be genetically modified. With no required labeling, most people have no idea. Let’s talk about the many red flags of using GMO's and Glyphosate. Some of these have not been officially determined as a direct cause of Monsanto's products, but all these have strong evidence to support them.

IF YOU HAVE READ NOTHING ELSE ON MONSANTO READ THIS:
Red flag 1: Contamination & Dispersion- how can you stop nature from being nature? Plants/seeds are designed to reproduce and spread naturally. For example insects like bees and butterflies pollinate plants, the wind then blows the seeds to other areas where it attempts to find a place to grow and repeat the process. This becomes a major problem with GMO crops and seeds. The most obvious issue is the contamination of genetically engineered seeds with organic crops. A situation like this creates a problem for the farmers that pride themselves for growing only organic crops. Not only does it contaminate the crop fields against their will, but since Monsanto has a patent for all their GMO seeds, if some are found elsewhere on a farm they can take legal action against these farmers.

Red flag 2: Super Weeds & Herbicide Use- Contrary to the company claims that GMO crops reduce the use of herbicides and pesticides, the use of herbicides and pesticides has substantially increased since genetically engineered crops were introduced. Recent studies have shown that herbicide and pesticide use only decreased during the first few years (1996-1999) of GMO crops. Then from 2000 to 2011 HERBICIDE USE INCREASED BY 527 MILLION POUNDS AND PESTICIDE USE BY AROUND 400 MILLION POUNDS, and these trends are continuing. Not surprisingly, this trend has led to the creation of weeds resistant to the herbicide. These “super weeds” as they are called, are affecting thousands of farmers.  The super weeds are forcing farmers to use more and more herbicide on these weeds and in turn on the crops. Seems pretty funny that Monsanto claims their seeds will promote less use (of their own) herbicide, when in reality farmers are being forced to use more and more Monsanto herbicide, which means more and more money for Monsanto…

Red flag 3: The Process of it All Just Doesn’t Make Sense- The herbicide Round Up, which contains glyphosate is considered to be dangerous by several sources is being sprayed on crops to kill weeds. The chemical reaction that occurs in weeds that causes them all to die is the same chemical reaction occurring in the crops; the only difference is that when the crops absorb the glyphosate, they are genetically modified to stay alive. The more glyphosate being used, the more the crops absorb, and the more we consume. Yum!

Red flag 4: Use of Political Influence- It is concerning just how deep Monsanto's government ties run. Here are just a couple examples of Monsanto using their political ties to their full advantage. Act number 1, nicknamed the Monsanto Protection Act, took place in 2013. During the last second of a budget bill getting passed, Senator Roy Blunt slipped in provision that some of congress wasn't even aware of that "barred federal courts from being able to halt the sale or prevent the planting of genetically modified organisms, NO MATTER WHAT HEALTH ISSUES ARISE CONCERNING GMO'S IN THE FUTURE." Really!? So, the fact that Monsanto is aware that GMOs might be found to be harmful in the future is scary in and of itself, but what is most concerning is that they want to continue to sell the seeds, even after they are found to be dangerous. Thankfully, that provision only lasted a few months. However just recently in July 2015 they struck again, this time with help of Representative Mike Pompeo. Only a few months ago a bill was passed in the house called the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act, nicknamed the Dark Act. What this bill would do is prohibit all labeling of GMO foods along with prohibiting state and local governments from regulating GMO crops in any way. The bill would expand the definition of 'natural' to include some GE foods, and would also remove any current labeling laws, like the ones in Vermont. Again, if their product is so much healthier and safer, why go to such lengths to fight the required labeling of modified foods? It should be a right to know what is in the food we are buying and consuming.

Red flag 5: Environment Effects- contamination and super weeds aren't the only environmental effects. With the excessive amount of herbicides and pesticides being used on crops, runoff carries these chemicals to water supplies, where it creates even more problems for the environment and consumers. Another major issue is the link to the widespread death of bee and butterfly populations. Which you may not think is a bad thing,  but pollinators play a crucial role in the environment and everyday life. It is estimated that more than 1,300 types of plants are grown around the world for food, beverages, medicines, condiments, spices and even fabric. Of these, about 75% are pollinated by animals. More than one of every three bites of food we eat or beverages we drink are directly because of pollinators. Indirectly, pollinators ultimately play a role in the majority of what we eat and consume. Pollinators are vital to creating and maintaining the habitats and ecosystems that many animals rely on for food and shelter. Worldwide, over half the diet of fats and oils comes from crops pollinated by animals. They facilitate the reproduction in 90% of the world’s flowering plants. If all you care about is money, In the United States alone, pollination of agricultural crops is valued at around twenty billion dollars annually. Globally, pollination services are likely worth more than three trillion dollars. So, when millions of bees and butterflies are dying, we should not just look the other way and act like everything will be okay. These are animals we rely on to survive.

Red Flag 6: Glyphosate is Probably Carcinogenic- Finally! The moment we have all have been waiting for: a major health organization stands up and speaks out against Monsanto, just a few months ago (March 2015). The world authority on cancer, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the herbicide glyphosate ‘probably carcinogenic to humans’ in its latest expert assessment. Substances and exposures that can lead to cancer are classified as carcinogens. The IARC is part of the WHO, its major goal is to identify causes of cancer, and its classification for carcinogens is the most widely used and accepted in the world. In the past thirty years, the IARC has evaluated the cancer-causing potential of more than nine hundred likely candidates, placing them into the following categories:

Group 1: Carcinogenic to humans
Group 2A: Probably carcinogenic to humans
Group 2B: Possibly carcinogenic to humans
Group 3: Unclassifiable as to carcinogenicity in humans
Group 4: Probably not carcinogenic to humans

Based on how hard it can be to test these candidate carcinogens, most are listed as being of probable, possible, or unknown risk. Only a little over one hundred are classified as “carcinogenic to humans.” Thus, a classification of 2A in cancer-causing potential for glyphosate on the IARC is almost the highest possible categorization. As stated in an IARC press release [1]: “Group 2A means that the agent is probably carcinogenic to humans. This category is used when there is limited evidence of carcinogenicity in humans and sufficient evidence of carcinogenicity in experimental animals.” It should also be noted that the two insecticides placed in the lower category (2B) in terms of cancer-causing potential are both in restricted use. Tetrachlorvinphos is banned in the European Union, but continues to be used in the US; while parathion has been severely restricted since the 1980s, and all authorized uses were cancelled in the European Union and USA by 2003.

The Federal Reserve System-

I saved the best for last: the Federal Reserve System, also known as the Central Bank of the United States, or The Fed, is easily the single most evil institution in America. The Fed basically controls how almost every person lives their daily life. Economist refer to it as “The biggest robbery ever enacted on the American people.”, while others have stated that “Our entire monetary system is nothing but a form of legalized theft.” The most important thing to understand is that there is nothing federal about the Federal Reserve. It is privately owned and operated, and, in fact, the government legally has no control over it in any way, which is why it qualified for this great list. The Federal Reserve System, alone, is responsible for conducting the monetary policy (creating money when they feel it is needed), supervising and regulating banks, maintaining a stable financial system, and controlling interest rates. Can someone please tell me how those responsibilities are left to a private corporation?! People are outraged over monopolies, yet the most powerful item in our lives, MONEY, is entirely under the control of a single company. Congress passed the Federal Reserve Act in 1913, making the Federal Reserve System the central bank of the United States, thus granting them legal authority over the monetary policy. It doesn't get much worse then the deregulation and reckless behavior of the The Fed, Wall Street, and Big Banks. In 2008, they caused the biggest financial crisis since the great depression, then relied on the same people they are already taking advantage of to bail them out.

Why The Fed is a Corrupt System:

1: Deficit Spending- To put it simply, the government spends more money than they bring in. So the government borrows money by issuing bonds. A bond is basically an IOU from the government in exchange for money. These bonds accrue interest and can be sold for a profit after a certain amount of time. To sell these bonds, the US Treasury holds bond auctions, which are attended by America’s largest banks. After purchasing the bonds, the banks sell them to the Federal Reserve, who writes them a check, from money they don’t actually have, that is then turned into money. This money is used to buy more bonds and the process is constantly repeated. Basically, whenever the US government needs money, the Federal Reserve loans it to them, by creating it literally out of thin air, then charges the government interest on that money they just created. The government continues to spend the money it receives and so do the banks. More money is created out of nothing using Fractional Reserve Lending- meaning banks are only required to save a small percent of the money you deposited. For example, say they are required to reserve 10%, you deposit $100 dollars. They then loan the other $90 out for someone to use, while your account still has “$100”. The bank makes money on the interest of the loan, the loan borrower pays the $90 he received to the seller of the item they needed, where the seller then deposits that money in his bank and the process repeats. Essentially in the end a total of $900 can be loaned out from banks on a $100 deposit. The more money The Fed and banks create the more the prices go up and the less our US dollar is worth. Since the creation of the Federal Reserve System the US dollar has lost 95% of its original value.

2. Income Tax: It is bad enough these banks are making money doing nothing, off our hard earned money, but we also as working Americans are required to pay taxes. Yes a certain amount may go to the public services, nation’s defense, Social Security, and Medicare, but what our taxes will always go to is paying INTEREST ON FEDERAL DEBT. Before the establishment of The Federal Reserve there was no need for income tax. The 16th amendment, to impose federal income tax, was passed in….1913! Coincidentally the same year the Federal Reserve was created.

3. The Debt Ceiling- with this monetary system THERE IS NO DEBT CEILING. There will always be more debt in the system than there is currency. It is mathematically impossible to pay back all the debt the government has created. For instance: you borrow the first dollar and promise to pay it back plus another dollar in interest. Where does the second dollar come from? You borrow it. So now there are two dollars, in existence but you now owe four dollars and so on. It is a system designed to require ever-increasing debt to continue.

4. Who owns the Federal Reserve? The owners of the Federal Reserve are the large private bankers! including some of the most powerful people in the world! These are the banks that are receiving profits from selling national debt to The Fed, interest from The Fed, and they receive a 6% dividend on ownership of The Fed and also get bailed out by the Fed when they "crash". This system funnels wealth from the working population to the government and mostly, the banks. Our national debt is basically a form of enslavement upon the American people. The spending and actions of our government now are going to affect our generations to come.

THE CONSPIRACY: Our founding fathers realized the dangers of central banking and many fought against it. They understood this and to protect future generations from suffering from the theft of an out of control government, they believed gold and silver should be the form of currency, for they cannot just print as much as they need. THE CONSTITUTION STATES, ACCORDING TO ARTICLE 1 SECTION 8 “THE US CONGRESS SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO COIN MONEY, REGULATE THE VALUE THEROF, AND OF FOREIGN COIN, AND FIX THE STANDARD OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES.” Congress had no constitutional authority to give this power to the Federal Reserve. They are more powerful than anyone may know. On several occasions presidents have spoken upon the dangers of central banking, and some fought strongly to prevent it. Now I'm not one to believe something unless there is strong evidence and facts supporting it, but, having several of the best presidents in this country's history, speak out about the same thing...

Abraham Lincoln:

"The money power preys upon the nation in time of peace and conspires against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, more selfish than bureaucracy. I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me, and causes me to tremble for the safety of our country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people, until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the republic is destroyed."
Lincoln continued to fight against the central bank, and some now believe that it was his anticipated success in influencing Congress to limit the life of the Bank of the United States to just the war years that was the motivating factor behind his assassination.

Andrew Jackson:

He vetoed the renewal of the charter for the Bank of the United States on July 10, 1832. In 1835, He declared his disdain for the international bankers: “You are a den of vipers. I intend to rout you out, and by the Eternal God I will rout you out. If the people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system, there would be a revolution before morning.” There followed an (unsuccessful) assassination attempt on President Jackson's life. Jackson had told his vice president, Martin Van Buren, “The bank, Mr. Van Buren, is trying to kill me."

John F. Kennedy:

According to the United States Secret Service, 99% of all U.S. paper “currency” circulating in 1999 are Federal Reserve Notes. Kennedy knew that if the silver-backed United States Notes were widely circulated, they would have eliminated the demand for Federal Reserve Notes. This is a very simple matter of economics. The USN was backed by silver and the FRN was not backed by anything of intrinsic value. Executive Order 11110 should have prevented the national debt from reaching its current level (~18 trillion) if Lyndon B Johnson or any subsequent President were to enforce it. It would have almost immediately given the U.S. Government the ability to repay its debt without going to the private Federal Reserve Banks and being charged interest to create new “money”. Executive Order 11,110 gave the U.S.A. the ability to, once again, create its own money backed by silver and realm value worth something. President Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 and the United States Notes he had issued were immediately taken out of circulation. Federal Reserve Notes continued to serve as the legal currency of the nation.
JFK was one of the greatest leaders the US has ever seen. Kennedy had been in office for only 3 months and he was already taking unprecedented steps to empower ordinary people. Kennedy did more for civil rights than any other president since Abraham Lincoln. He was a big supporter of the constitution, he was against the tyranny of big government. He wanted to withdraw US troops from Vietnam. He wanted to abolish the CIA and Federal Reserve, and he warned us of criminal elements within the establishment who wanted to cease an opportunity to restrict peoples freedoms. He urged the press to be more open and to fulfill its obligation to inform the American people about pertinent facts. And on top of that he spoke openly and candidly about the dangers of secret societies and their influence over the way government works. Everyone should go read or listen to his famous speech titled "Secret Societies" when you have time. Who would want to kill a man like that? Who benefits?

Thomas Jefferson:
“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Theodore Roosevelt:

“Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people.  To destroy this invisible government, to befoul the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day.”

Franklin Delano Roosevelt:

“The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson.”

Josiah Charles  Stamp:
"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Stamp, was an English industrialist, economist, civil servant, statistician, writer, and banker. He was also a director of the Bank of England.

Conclusion: Nothing is as it seems. There is corruption within the highest levels of our country and these corporations do not care about anyone, but themselves. Just researching these three institutions has showed me: our natural resources are being privatized, our environment is being destroyed, our food supply is being poisoned, and our money is being stolen. While these companies are making millions upon millions doing all that, nothing is being done about it. If we continue our ways we won't be leaving our grandchildren or great grandchildren with much of a world to live in. Money controls us. We are at a point where our very survival is now threatened. What I also question is how a person in the most developed and technologically advanced country in the world has a 41% chance to develop cancer and why the US is one of the sickest, literally, countries in the world. While spending billions of dollars more than any other country on healthcare. (18% of our total GDP) The only way to change this is to inform the public. You are the greatest threat to these evil corporations, they rely on public ignorance and compliance! My challenge to you would be to share and inform as many people as possible to start building a better future. I still have a lot to learn about how the world works and what I find interesting, so there will be more to come. I already have some exciting ideas for Evil Corporations Part 2, inspired by my liberal side:  ExxonMobil/Shell, Big Pharma, The NRA, and maybe the big banks and Wall Street while I am at it.
